The Supreme Court of the United States is expected to issue its decision on the constitutionality of the Affordable Care Act in June, 2012, at or about the time most employers are deciding on the renewal of their health care plans. We can predict with confidence one of the following relevant outcomes:

The Court will uphold the constitutionality of the Personal Mandate,
The Court will invalidate the Personal Mandate but uphold the Act’s insurance reforms and consumer protections,
The Court will invalidate the entirety of the Affordable Care Act, or
The Court will decide it does not have jurisdiction over the case until 2014.
Each of the outcomes will have an important impact on health care purchasing decisions in 2012 and beyond.

EANJ’s 96th Annual Meeting will provide a comprehensive overview so that employers can plan, protect and purchase health care intelligently.

Going Places Gala for Dress for Success of Morris County

Dress for Success® Morris County is a local not for profit organization dedicated to providing disadvantaged women with the tools – both in style and substance – to realize career success. We are based in the Madison Community House and provide underserved women with business attire and important career support. On Thursday May 17, 2012, Dress for Success Morris County will be celebrating its 14th anniversary with our sixth annual gala, the “Going Places Gala.” The gala will take place at the Grand Summit Hotel in Summit and will be an elegant event with dinner, silent auction and more. The money raised will enable us to continue to help disadvantaged women in their journey to economic self-sufficiency.

To commemorate the event, we are creating a professional journal which will be given to everyone attending. The journal will contain congratulatory messages and advertisements from local businesses like yours, as well as the evening’s program. An advertisement by your business in our journal would guarantee direct exposure to a target market that would be likely to use your services. Also, your business would be supporting an organization which supports disadvantaged women in our community. What a win-win situation!

EANJ Webinar: COBRA Revisited

Recently, the IRS released revised guidance for their auditors to use in conducting COBRA compliance audits. These guidelines address the types of information that will be requested from a company during an audit of their COBRA procedures. While not specifically stating that IRS enforcement efforts will increase, the guidance does create a very effective framework for doing so. Employers need to look at their COBRA administration practices now, and take steps to discover problems before the IRS does.
